Mio Fujimoto is a Japanese marimbist and percussionist residing in Okayama, Japan.

As a piano and marimba duo"MsDuo" with Maho Yamaguchi , Mio was awarded Espoir prize at the 24th Osaka International Music Competition for duo category, won 1st prize at 2021 International Music Competition "Rome" Grand Prize Virtuoso for chamber music category, and won 2nd prize at 2021 North International Music Competition in Sweden for chamber music category.

She was also awarded 1st prize at the 2019 International Artist Competition for open duo category with Jason Chen as a marimba duo.

In Japan, She performed at Distant Worlds: music from FINAL FANTASY THE JOURNEY OF 100 in Osaka in 2015, and was selected to perform the 48th New Face Concert at Okayama in 2015, the Young Musician Concert Vol.2 and Vol.6 at Mimasaka in 2016 and 2020. In 2016, Mio Organized and held Marimba Duo Concert with Maki Oto in Okayama. She also has been  performing at numerous nursing homes since 2018.

 

In the US, Mio performed at The Celebrity Series of Boston’s Steve Sessions at Berklee college in 2018, and at Emmanuel College for Academic Convocation as a marimba quartet in 2018. During her Master's degree, she coordinated Violin and Marimba Duo Concert with violinist Alec Norkey and premiered 2 pieces in 2018.

Mio received her Bachelor’s degree in Percussion performance from Osaka Kyoiku University, and Master's degree in Marimba Performance from Boston Conservatory at Berklee. Additionally, she received her Professional Studies Certificate in Marimba Performance from Boston Conservatory at Berklee.

 

Her teachers include Nancy Zeltsman, Nanae Mimura, Atsuko Hiramatsu, Kyle Brightwell, and Samuel Solomon.
